| One of the goals of the Pennsylvania Digital Devonian Dig project was to enable students to use a variety of tools of modern technology. These tools included digital cameras, scanners, the Internet and computers. One valuable skill associated with technology is the ability to create web pages. Web pages are a major instrument for communicating on the Internet and allow students to publish globally. | ||
| In order to create a web page, students must gather information in the form of text, graphics and links to other internet resources. Critical decisions must be made on what is valid and relevant from the accumulated data. The bits of information are then synthesized into a multi-media presentation that is aethestically pleasing, stimulating and effective in communicating information, ideas and emotional content. | ![]() |
The 6th grade students at Lock Haven Catholic School spent an afternoon learning the basics of web page creation. The students used Netscape Composer to author their own pages. The subject centered around their field trip to Red Hill where they searched and learned about Devonian fossils. The page was simple but included instruction on the three basic components of web pages- text, graphics and hyperlinks. |
